I don't really have too much stuff, but here it is.
A watercolor I did for my water based painting class. My teacher dug it at least. He was like "Oh! Who's the guy in the back? Is he a friend or... or...!"
My teacher is this little old man who is quietly thrilled by everything in the world.
Kinda Decemberists fanart. It didn't turn out great, especially Margaret, but whatever. I actually like deer-William okay, and considering how much I hate backgrounds, the background was not bad to do.
A doodle I did while sitting at Buckingham Fountain, listening to Regina Spektors CD, Far. Which is soooo so good.

Some practice pages for my comic. I just picked a couple random scenes and drew them, and I happened to get a bedroom scene (no hanky panky). I blurred out the words cause they sound dumb out of context. (I am scared that is sounds dumb in context).
Another random practice page. I think for the real ones I am going to have to spend way more time, and get references for animals and stuff.
I really like how the comic panels look. they look so professional. do you plan them out first with pencil? do you use a brush pen or just ink and a brush or just a pen? it looks so professional.

you actually do thumbnails of stuff before you draw it? i do not have the patience for that.
ReplyDeleteand i really hope you'll let us read the comic when it's done because it's looking good so far! (not fair that you got to edit out the text; i don't know how to do fancy computer tricks like that.)
also the longer i look at the raccoon the more i like him. he's like yoda or something (it might be the big fuzzy ears or the cranky expression, i'm not sure which).

ReplyDeleteI don't usually thumbnail, just when I am bored in class and coming up with ideas for pictures, or I have an idea I don't want to forget. But most of the time, the more planning I put into it, the shittier it looks.
Also, you guys will be able to read the comic, maybe once I finish the first chapter (like 20 pages). Be warned though, it contains religion, gayness, incest, and poorly composed paneling. As well as me trying to draw all these crazy animals for the first time ever. I am glad you can even tell it's a raccoon.
Also, also, my fancy computer trick is opening it up in illustrator, and using the paintbrush tool on it. It took me like 5 minutes to figure out how to do it too.
