raining on the parade? stealing thunder?

Hey i know there have been a bunch of really good recent posts and i don't want to rain on the parade or steal anyone's thunder but if i don't do this now, i never will lol.  DUUUUMP

So this is my house/apartment. Basically it used to be a house and then the landlady bought it and divided it up into apartments. So its weirdly divided inside.

front door/entry way

i'm on the first floor which is nice.

subletters. they're very nice and artists as well. yay.  also, like 26 years old. older people! ahhh!

kitchen. is very small.

badly done panorama of my room. i'd fix it but am too lazy/tired/would have to spend time figuring out how...

office! this is my non-paying job.  interning for cornell alumni magazine. today i interviewed someone, taped it, transcribed it, and tomorrow i will begin writing a short profile to be published. playing reporter is actually kindof fun.

intern desk :( sad desk.

in any case its a real 'office' so i feel pretty grown up. and my boss told me one day that i can't wear short shorts to work...so thats pretty grown up too.

This is what i do for my not very grown up job. There isn't a picture of me doing it...because its hard to take pictures of myself working zip lines but this is basically the job. thats my aunt too.

here's me. proof! my shirt says staff!

and while we're on the subject of reunion (thats why my aunt was zip lining at cornell), just for stacy here is a picture of my dad in college. he's pretty freaking adorable. i want to be his friend so bad.  but its ok because i guess we're friends now... one night while my parents were here, they stayed up til 3am singing karaoke....

OK so dakota knows i still draw. its just that now i don't really have time to have projects and finished looking things. in any case here is an indie guy and some friend of my roommate's

now this is fan art. what happened was i went onto deviant art to look at dakota's stuff and got really REALLY (like go to bed at 4am) distracted and was just exercising my hand eye coordination by going around copying stuff other people did, so none of this is original at all, heads up. its not even original fan art, its like fan art fan art.

jamie hewlett rocks my socks

i mean, clearly not my style, but super cool looking

ok so THIS is original, and it is laura. basically one day we went to ithaca fest and she looked like a cool indie urban superhero because she was standing in a power stance and i tried to draw it later and this is what it is.

more airport pictures.  pretty much every time i fly here/home i have like, a 3-7 hour layover. and i just creep around the airport drawing sleeping people.

omg these people were SO funny. at first i thought they were speaking some foreign language and then i realized they just had super heavy scottish accents.  and there was this grumpy old man who was making jokes about champagne breakfast but he said champagne brrrrrrrreakfast.

i was drawing this white guy and was sitting next to these two asian boys and at some point they started talking to me.  one was 9 the other 7 and that guy i was drawing was their dad. so i was basically sitting next to these kids and started creeping on their dad. aaanyways they were cute and wanted to know if i was korean and if i was going to be an artist and wanted to take a picture of me with my sketchbook.

i saw like five people at the airport wearing cowboy hats. i realized its because if you have a cowboy hat and are going somewhere on a plane, you have to wear it on the plane otherwise it won't fit in your suitcase.

over and out.

Hey Guys, Adam here. I know it's been a while since my last post. Here is my latest painting. It kind of comes from the whole "color factory" theme, but this time shows inside the factory. I also tried to add some dimension to it by painting the sides of the canvas and having the color smoke leave through the painted frame. Hope you all like it.

Till next time,
Adam

Last Fashion Illustrations and some Photoshop

Hey guys. More stuff.
This is the first thing I did in my fashion class. We had to do an illustration of a woman. Then at the end of the semester, we had to re-do the illustration. I was pretty happy with the improvement.

This was an illustration were we advertised something like makeup or shampoo. I cut out the advertisement in the photo. My main critique was she was too manly, but I like that. I did the hair like you did, Allison, in your Tadzio picture. (I do that with blonde hair a lot).

A watch advertisement.

The last thing I did for my fashion class. We had to do three figures, and one of the outfits had to come from our fashion center. The girls dress was taken from the fashion center, it was made in 1911. The other girl and guy I made up based on what I would want my opium den to look like. (Sexy boys with poppies, and butch ladies... it's an Oscarwildegasm).

I thought of the possibility of Batwoman fighting Poison Ivy in the future, and the sadomasochistic possibilities there are endless.

Sorry for this one Allison. This is Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent. Justice League makes me want to make Batman and Superman gay for eachother. I think Batman would be all cold to Superman, but Bruce would be his typical assholey self. Oh man, the possibilities make me want to read fanfiction.

More photoshop practice. I wanted to draw a fairy tale-ish picture, with a lady sailor. Why are those two little white stripes on navy blue so sexy? It makes my stomach flip. Also, drawing ships is actually really fun.

Photoshop is my new main squeeze.

Not really, but I am having a lot of fun with it. I can color my lineart in a fun, semi-mindless way. I go into a really great art coma. I have more stuff from finals, but until I find a good way to photograph it, I'll post stuff I've done since coming home.

Ohhhh man Nightwing is awesome. And you know, Robin has been my favorite since I was in Kindergarten. I just freaking love reading about them interacting. So reading Red Robin and other stuff like that makes me make things like this. (This is Dick and Tim by the way).

More Batwoman, and Alice, one of her first villains. I just can't wait for her to start crossing over into the pre established Bat-verse. When she met Batman for the first time I squealed.

I wanted to do a boy boob. So I drew Abel in a slutty outfit. I am so happy to be getting back to the comic. I have finally finished the 2nd part, and at the end of the 3rd part, one of the brothers starts to have complicated feelings for the other. It's about to get awesome.

I'm reading this book, Stone Butch Blues, and it's so good. But even before that I had a strong desire to draw butches and looks at butches and be near butches and and and and I can't think of anything I wouldn't want to do with butches.

Also, I put this on deviantart and I was happy to see it's pretty popular. There are people have the same taste as me!

maybe i'll scan these so you can see them better...

Birthday card for dad, there're some footprints and inside it says something cute about following in his footsteps

self portrait? i dunno, i had extra paper and made this. i think i really like cutting stuff out of paper.

p.s. ashley and i visited the studio today and mcmahon has TWO of my artstuffs hung up in the digital art room and dakota only has ONE.  albeit it is a huge one. kimya has something too i think. (i know at this point rachael is thinking: oh god allison its not a contest) whatever, i win!  (just kidding because dakota is at art school so she wins anyways :/ )

still not dead!

Amanda and I made this get well card for her friend's dad who recently had a brain operation. cute huh?

Then i thought it'd be cute if we made bookmarks for each other (i've been using a coupon recently...) So I made a typical, nice looking bookmark and amanda made a kickass awesome bookmark.  as you can see hers has a tail made out of a streamer that sticks out of the book. Mine is the boat one and amanda's is superman fighting an alien who is holding (kindof unclearly labled) in one hand lois lane and in the other red kryptonite. also labled although upside down is the 'kent farm'

On the back of mine i have an encouraging quote and superman's cape lifts to reveal his red undies.

making stuff with amanda is defffinitely one of my favorite things to do.

p.s. she heard the song tiny dancer the other day and i was telling her its elton john. 'do you know who elton john is?' I asked her.  Her response: 'yeah, he's that puppet dakota made' -_-

Reynardine

OK, done with my first movie for this semester! Should be done with the next one pretty soon. Hopefully by Tuesday, but I'm not sure. I'm pretty glad that I got this done in a month, while doing other school stuff and the other animation. I may make some small changes to the audio, but not for awhile, not I have to bust ass on my other millions of projects.

Inspired by, but not really based on, the song Reynardine, sung by Anne Briggs or the Fairport Convention.

The Liege and Leaf album always makes me want to draw so bad.

The Batmanest post ever. (Without any Batman).

SCHOOL! IT'S ALMOST OVER!

But that is a bad thing, cause I have so much shit to do you guys. SO. MUCH. SHIT. To do.

So much that I haven't been doing much stationary art, but here is some of it.

First off...

OH MAN YOU GUYS BATWOMAN IS GETTING HER OWN GODDAM SERIES.

I am so excited. So I drew a picture of her and Renee Montoya. If I were Kate Kane I don't think I could get over Renee. Then again, I have a weakness for lady-cops.

I have been buying Detective Comics that feature her as they come out each month, the people who work at the comic store see me as I come in and say "Not for another week."

And it get's better. They started Batwoman with the artist J.H. Williams III who is a god amongst artists. He goes from style to style like a pro. Then they changed to some other dude.
But Williams is gonna do the art for the series! Yusss. So happy you guys. Probably will make more fanart.

[Edit: Did more fanart.]
This time Robin: who has always had a place deep in my heart, (Dick, Tim, whoever) and Nightwing, who I think is pretty damn cool. Still jizzing over textures., as you can see. I need to start collecting really great textures, but that means being crazy and taking pictures of concrete and walls and stuff...

[EditEdit: MORE Batwoman fanart. Or, Kate Kane Fanart.]
She showed up in a party in a tuxedo, and it was awesome. I don't know enough of her yet, but I wonder if she will make her alter ego Bruce Wayne-ish, like this. Or a different kind of personality change... Also, I want to see her and Bruce Wayne interact, maybe at a party, neither knowing who the other is. So much possiblilty!

I have been learning to use and manipulate textures, and I'm starting to really like it. I think this is a photoshop style that is working for me.

Also Calamity Jane fanart. I have the fanart bug you guys. It's awful. In the middle of the night, instead of sleeping, I think "what if I drew..." I really need to be working. But this picture is in the style of photoshop painting that I always wondered about. Turns out with a tablet that I borrowed from my roomate, it's not too hard. Just as hard as painting, really.

It kind of reminds me of painting on different panels of glass, then putting them together, because of the layers. I see why photoshop is addictive. It's fun, if you mess up it's fixable, and there are so many different things you can do. Every time you learn something new you feel like you discovered it. It's pretty cool.

I have been wondering about it for years, and I feel like in a week I have learned quite a bit. I mostly just took stuff I learned from toonboom and applied it to photoshop.

Anywho, Calamity Jane is my absolute favorite movie right now. I have watched it 3 times this week, and youtubed the songs, like, 1000 times each. Doris Day is just the cutest thing I have ever seen. This is how good it is. This movie has a LOT of lesbian subtext, and yet I think the straight romance is SUPER CUTE. WHUT.
Also, Calamity's outfits are the best. Even after her inevitable "feminine makeover" she still gets to wear this fucking awesome outfit that I probably will draw. Doris Day's voice is echoing in my heart.

Oh man you guys.

Welp, next up is some watercolors for my fashion class.

Warm up watercolor

Mah sisters for childrens fashion illustration. Had to rush it, but the colors of both of their skin came out OK, but less so in the photo... Honestly, I don't think I could handle a critique of this one, just cause of the subject matter.

I made the model look more femmy and gave him more red hair. My teacher made me promise to pay more attention to the clothes, and stop focusing on my ginger fantasies. (Not in those exact words).

Our model has great hair, which I have mentioned before. It kinda of pisses me off, cause we are allowed to change the model as we please, it's about the clothes, and EVERYONE but me changes her to a white lady with long hair. I'm not sure why, but that really upsets me. People have such typical and boring ass tastes in people.

A photoshop doodle done with the tablet. Me and my room mate have been talking about harems. Like, a lot. It always makes me picture, like Darius III and his harem of girls and eunuchs and stuff. I think it's cause I read The Persian Boy at a ridiculously young age. I am no better then Percy Shelley, Byron and all those douches.

And some pages from my sketchbook.

This boy is one of the side statues around my fav. statue that I often eat lunch in front of. (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/179/463651288_32c2b6b28e.jpg) I love that place.

Robin.

Designing kid Reynardine.

Result of reading some manga again.

This girl was weird to draw. I felt like I was going back in time, drawing something I would have back in high school. Kinda fun though.

Saw this dude by the library, and he looked so cool, I had to draw him. He had MANLY ass shoulders.

Cain and Abel doodles.

More Cain and Abel shiatttttt.

Also, this quick animation I did. But I totally stole this. I was watching Justice League and even though most of their animation is minimalistic, (like all television shows) they had some surprisingly cool moves, like this one where Batman jumped from some rafters. I wanted to see how they got the timing, so I did it myself, and I think I learned a lot.
I think I will practice this way with other movies. Maybe this is the key to figuring out how that DAMN Shadowman works. He's so great. Erg.

[Edit: The damn video is so light! Well, I'll upload it on facebook later maybe with a bunch of other quickie shit maybe].

This isn't all I have, but the other things are too big for the scanner and I can't get good photos of them. I'll upload them later.
