OK, not going to go in order because while I like them all, I LOVE the last one. I'm not sure completely why. Partly because it freaks me out. I feel happy and kind of scared looking at it. The main colors are orange and purple, probably my two least favorite colors, and I never know how to make purple look good, but I really love it here. I think the fact that you made them both so warm, all the inside colors, and then this little area of blue. I always love your colors, and feel the weird need to overanalyze them. They are SO different to the colors I default to. I think that's awesome.
For the first one, did you come up with that idea yourself? It's so strange, and I really like it, I think because I feel like I am pretty close to understanding what's happening, but not quite. Don't tell me either. I like not knowing. The reflection looks really good.
Your color still life is so much more interesting then your black and white one. I think your colors are my favorite thing, so when they are gone I'm just bummed. This looks like a pretty fun still life actually... I really like the reflection in the metal, and the lighting on the blanket. For some reason the flesh colored thing on the left makes me think of a hanging pig at a butcher. My favorite part is the red thing. It looks like crumpled paper, and I think it's rendered really nicely.
(Sorry for pretending to be McMahon for so many paragraphs. THIS ART GIVES ME A BONER. Ok, it's me again).
I've never made a canvas before! Erggg I need to try and do one, maybe this summer. God I haven't painted in so long... I'm not usually big on oil and acrylic, I like watercolor better, but this is making me want to try again...
The Doodlewall started as an actual wall, at an independent high school, in sunny southern California. It was a wall where students could post their doodles from class instead of throwing them away in old notebooks. The idea was that anyone's attempts at visual self-expression could be valued as art by some other person and that doodles were worth something more than recyclable paper. In time, the doodlewall grew into a rawther large mural filled side to side with student artwork. But alas! As children tend to do, the first generation of Doodlers grew up (kindof). They graduated and left their wall, and their town, and each other. This blog is an attempt to keep their friendship and the spirit of the doodlewall alive.
