I think my last post was before Thanksgiving...so here are some progress notes on the comic.
Ugh. I really can't stand the way these things look after they're scanned in. They look so amateur. Why can't I get mine to look like hers? http://jenwang.net/
you know what's cool, is that i've seen all of these already! okay this is going to be a weird obscure reference, the last scene reminds me of archibald motley's paintings. i think its the blocks of colors/shapes i dunno. actually it looks OH OH it looks just like the dream I had where i went to a party at wayne manor and I was so nervous and excited that i had been invited and i was tim drake's date and it was FREAKING so disappointing when i woke up.
k also did you change pen in the middle? because there is a distinctly different colortone/feel after the 4th picture you put up. i actually like it. i know this is not a good thing but i love how they look when you're not done with them. thats why i like the fourth picture the best. is sigourney weaver in this?
anyways as always your penmanship is impeccable. as is your shading. and while the first panel is very very busy i feel like later it actually gets a lot better through your use of blocking out things in lighter gray rather than detailing it a lot.
I love the simplicity you get in them, but still detailed. It's a good balance/design choice.
Also, my favorite pages are page 1 and page 4 (top to bottom).
Page 1 is a bunch of manly soldiers, and that gets my excited. I hope they don't ask and don't each other all night longgggg. Seriously, they are so manly and handsome, and your style really leads to great detail of clothing, which is great for weapons and military outfits. I love to draw those, and love to look at them and looks at good drawings of them, so this is just great for me.
The 4th pages color is great. I really like it. Also, the dude in the 4th, 5th and 6th page is so cute! I love him! Who is her?
As always, they way you draw suits and other manly clothes makes me jizz.
The Doodlewall started as an actual wall, at an independent high school, in sunny southern California. It was a wall where students could post their doodles from class instead of throwing them away in old notebooks. The idea was that anyone's attempts at visual self-expression could be valued as art by some other person and that doodles were worth something more than recyclable paper. In time, the doodlewall grew into a rawther large mural filled side to side with student artwork. But alas! As children tend to do, the first generation of Doodlers grew up (kindof). They graduated and left their wall, and their town, and each other. This blog is an attempt to keep their friendship and the spirit of the doodlewall alive.
